Our Founder
Soccer has been part of Anay’s life since before he could walk. His father, Tej, was a passionate soccer player — even playing in college — and from the very beginning, the game became their bond. As a baby, Anay was constantly kicking, even before taking his first steps. Soccer was their language, their connection, their everything.
Tej trained him, played with him, and took him to tournaments. The field wasn’t just a place to practice — it was where they built memories, discipline, and a deep father-son connection.
When his father passed away, Anay faced one of the hardest moments of his life. In the middle of that grief, he turned even more to soccer. The field became his therapy. It became the one place where he could release anger, process sadness, and hold onto joy. On hard days, he trained harder. On better days, he celebrated with his teammates. The team became his support system. The game became his outlet.
Through soccer, he didn’t just cope — he grew stronger mentally, emotionally, and physically.
And Then, Soccer4Smiles Was Born
As Anay continued playing at higher levels, he began to understand something difficult: soccer is expensive. Club fees alone can range from $3,000 to $4,000 a year — and that doesn’t include uniforms, tournament fees, travel, hotels, and additional costs.
Through conversations at home and within the community, he realized how many talented kids never get the chance to play simply because their families cannot afford it.
He also knew something deeply personal — many of those kids may be dealing with challenges of their own. They may need an outlet. They may need a team. They may need exactly what soccer gave him: a safe space, a support system, and a reason to smile.
So he decided to do something about it.
Soccer4Smiles was created to give every child, regardless of financial background, the opportunity to play, to grow, and to heal through the game. What started as a bond between a father and son became a mission to create access, opportunity, and hope for others.
Because every child deserves the chance to step onto the field — and smile.
